Technical Help
UF Computing Help Desk
In the event that you have technical difficulties with your course (i.e., documents not downloading properly, log in problems, video playback problems, etc.) please contact the UF Computing Help Desk Links to an external site. either by filling out an online request form Links to an external site. or calling (352) 392-4357 - select option 1. The Help Desk is located on the ground floor of the Hub on the UF campus, and can assist you with a variety of issues, including:
- e-Learning (Canvas) questions
- Connectivity issues
- Video playback (Mediasite) concerns
- And many more!
If your technical difficulties will cause you to miss a due date, you MUST report the problem to the Help Desk and then email your instructor. Include the ticket number that you are given from the Help Desk in an e-mail to the instructor to explain the late assignment/quiz/test.

Technology Requirements and Expertise

Technology Expertise
In order to succeed in this course, you need to possess the following technology skills:
- Navigating the eLearning management system
- Using email with attachments
- Creating and submitting files in commonly used word processing programs (such as Microsoft Word)
- Downloading and installing software
- Using spreadsheet programs (such as Microsoft Excel)
Recommended Notification Settings
Under “Settings"
- Verify ufl.edu email
- Confirm EST timezone
- Edit display name if anonymity is preferred (note that this will be visible to other students, TAs and instructors)
- Add additional contact methods if desired (phone for text alerts)
Under “Notifications”
- Daily or ASAP notification for invitations and grading (This makes it easy to navigate to per review and see conference/collaboration invites)
- Other notifications per preference

Utilize these services online or by going to one of the libraries and finding a librarian.
