Core Homework

What is it?

The Core Homework is the online homework associated to Modules 1-8. This homework is completed through Xronos, a free online homework system developed by The Ohio State University. While OSU developed the system, I wrote the code for every question. This means the homework is specifically designed to help you learn everything you are expected to learn in this course. You'll find additional resources (like videos and Desmos graphs) embedded into the homework.

What will it look like?

Here is what you can expect. The homework will walk you through everything you need before starting an actual problem. This may be a quick video, a short explanation, or even some graphs of easy problems to help you understand. You will then type your answer in the box and press "Enter" on your keyboard. If you are right, you'll see a green checkmark! It also updates your progress on the entire homework (green bar in the top-right corner). If you are having trouble, try clicking the "Reveal Hint" button for a clue on how to solve the problem. And if you need additional practice? Click the "Another" button at the top to refresh the page with a new set of problems. Each question is built dynamically, which means it will generate with new numbers to give you as many practice problems as you would like. I will post a longer video of me talking through different features, so be sure to look out for the announcement.

How will it affect my grade?

In this day and age, there are an incredible number of resources online that will help you with any mathematics problem. To encourage students to actually use the homework to learn (and not just complete it for points), you only need to complete 80% of the homework by the end of the semester. If you don't, your grade will decrease by 1/3 letter (such as from a B to B-).
