Weekly Assignments

What are they?

Weekly assignments are meant to recreate the small group interactions you would have if you were taking this course on-campus. You will be randomly assigned to a small group at the beginning of the semester. If at any time you would like to switch to a new group, please let the coordinator know. In these groups, you'll interact about the course material and design.

What do they look like?

Each week, you'll have a new task to complete in your group on Canvas. Some example tasks are:

  • (Week 1) Introducing yourselves on the discussion board and collectively answering a series of questions to show you understand how the course works.
  • (Week 2) Choosing a course objective and creating a short video explanation.
  • (Week 3) Reading about mastery-based courses and answering reflection questions.

How do they affect my grade?

You will be graded on your participation in the Canvas page, not on the correctness of your work. Participation will be graded as follows:

  • 2 points -- You have actively participated in the assigned task for the week.
  • 1 point -- You participated but did less was required in the weekly task.
  • 0 points -- You have not participated in the assigned task for the week.

There will be 11 Weekly Assignments and thus a total of 22 earn-able points. The threshold for Weekly Assignments is 80%. This means you need to earn at least 18 points or it will negatively affect your Final Grade in the course.
