Mid-Term Exam

Both the in-person and online sections use Canvas to access the exam via honorlock. 

The Mid-Term exam is designed to test your comprehension of the materials covered up until the exam date. It is a closed book exam. Prepare to show your student ID and the 360 degree view of the room. I allowed in the system to allow for minor distractions (such as roommate walking behind etc.) or taking the exam in a public space. Honorlock people are also watching at times despite these allowances and can show up anytime during the exam if you are not wearing a shirt or if you are taking the exam in dark or in bed or or if you are wearing your headphones. I watched recordings of those conversations between students and honorlock reps in my own exams shown as red flags. So please minimize issues in your environment to protect your privacy and also to use the time freely without interruptions by honorlock. Know that I also have access to the recording of your entire exam. You are not allowed to communicate with fellow students during exam period (the official start time and end time even if you finish early).

It includes multiple choice, matching, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank questions, keyword descriptions and short essays

You have 1 attempt to take this exam. The exam can easily be finished in less than an hour but I do not mind if you want to take your time to write your short essay questions. The exam has time restriction: 80 minutes. The exam will be available to take starting from 1:40 pm on Friday and it closes at 3:40 (which is in fact a total of 120 minutes but 80 min countdown starts once you log in). This extended time window is chosen to accommodate any log in issues. I will start getting worried if you are not logged in by the start of our usual class time.

Today in another exam I conducted on honorlock there were a couple log-in issues. Please make sure you have the following to avoid tedious proof process with honorlock.

You will need google chrome for honorlock. Don't forget to pause your ad blocker if you can't log in, have your student ID with you, and make sure that you have a proper webcam and that you take the exam from a location with decent internet connection. If there is a technical issue reach honorlock, not me, but I will be available via e-mail if all else fails.
