Module # 3Organizational Context; Financial Analysis of H & T Organization

This Module will help you evaluate the influence of an organization’s internal environment on strategy formation and implementation. In particular, the importance of organizational structure, organization culture, and leadership as key considerations is discussed in the context of the international H&T industry. We will also explain how different factors in an organization’s external environment influence the internal environment and the functioning of an organization.
We will explore a deeper understanding of how to assess the financial strengths and weaknesses of an organization, since an organization’s future depends on financial strength. The importance of the cash flow statement, balance sheet, income statement, and financial ratios, in particular, is highlighted in the context of the H&T industry

By the end of this Module, you should be able to:

Identify different elements of an H&T organization’s internal environment.
Discuss the complexity of H&T organizations’ internal environment.
Analyze an H&T organization’s internal environment.
Evaluate the influence of organizational variables/factors on strategy formulation and implementation, and provide recommendations to overcome potential challenges in this process.
Define internal analysis and financial analysis
Explain, understand, and prepare the cash-flow statement
Explain, understand, and prepare the balance sheet for hospitality and tourism firms
Calculate and interpret financial ratios
Understand how financial analysis is important to gain sustainable competitive advantages.
