This assessment covers the material presented in the lectures and required readings associated with this module. Be sure you have viewed all lectures and carefully read all required readings before starting the assessment.

The questions ask you to demonstrate your ability to do the following:

  1. Name the five main components of a computer.
  2. Use specifications such as clock rate and cycles per instruction to calculate performance.
  3. Identify the purpose of an instruction set architecture.
  4. Express the differences between a RISC ISA and a CISC ISA .
  5. Compare performance of different computers using a benchmark.
