This assessment covers the material presented in the lectures and required readings associated with this module. Be sure you have viewed all lectures and carefully read all required readings before starting the assessment.

The questions ask you to demonstrate your ability to do the following:

  1. Represent circuit diagrams using digital logic equations and truth tables.
  2. Represent truth tables with a sum of products and a product of sums.
  3. Use circuit diagrams to describe the operation of commonly used circuits in computer datapaths.
  4. Write an R-type assembly language instruction to do an arithmetic operation.
  5. Translate an assembly language instruction to machine code.
  6. Translate machine code to an assembly language instruction.
  7. Use the LEGv8 reference sheet to find information about machine code format and assembly language format.

Guidelines and Submission

  • This is an individual assessment — do not work in groups.
  • You will have up to 50 minutes to complete all 5 questions.
  • Your graded responses will be available for you to view following the submission of your completed assessment.
