This chapter will review the human resource aspect of the communication center to include the value of human capital, retention and recruitment, hiring and selection and several other human resource principles.

Objectives

After completing this module, students will be able to:

• • Describe the difference between recruitment and retention and the impact on staffing.
  • Recognize the importance of standards when assessing job skills.
  • Describe the calculations used to determine work hours.
  • Discuss why background checks are essential.
  • Recognize weaknesses in human resource processes.
  • Understand the causes and impact of overtime.
