Module 5: Injury Surveillance
This module will focus on the informational resources from which policy is formulated and how the most prevalent federal policies and directives that result from them. It also discusses the states initiatives for injury prevention and describes state variances in policy when they are unusual or markedly different.
Objectives
- The student will describe essential principles and the general scope of injury surveillance, including basic steps, the importance of the epidemiological triad, and the importance of Haddon Matrix
- The student will explain the need for surveillance in EMS and what role can play in surveillance for public health
