Module 7: Public Health in the Community
This module will discuss the efforts in areas such as health promotion, immunization, disease, and injury surveillance, public education, and some phases of home health care with some examples worthy of exploration as they relate to the intersection of EMS and public health.
Objectives
- The student will describe community injury prevention programs and how EMS action impact the health of a community
- The student will develop an understanding of behavior in developing community injury prevention programs
- Explain how to perform a community risk assessment, identify areas of community trending, and explain how EMS can assist in improving community health
- Evaluate common health injuries with a purpose of learning how to respond with EMS-based solutions

- Read: Chapter 9 (Lindsey/Monosky text)

- Answer the review questions at the end of the chapter.
