Module 4: Policy and Resource
This module will give students and overview of disease, its history, the variations of disease, the common causes of disease, how disease is transmitted, what burdens disease places on society, how disease can best be prevented, and how to structure a program to prevent the spread of disease-all of which are important considerations in today’s health care climate.
Objectives
- The student will demonstrate an understanding of the impact of injury and violence on society and the necessity for effective laws and policies for their prevention
- The student will describe how national policy and federal agency guidelines influence state laws and policy adoptions
- The student will identify the prevailing national injury surveillance systems, national data sources in the U.S.
