History of Emergency Communication & Dispatch
Module 1

This module will provide an overview of the history of communication and dispatch by discussing the federal legislation enacted. Additionally, this module will discuss radio systems and Emergency Medical Dispatch.

Objectives

After completing this module, students will be able to:

    • Describe the role that federal legislation played in the organization of emergency services communications.
    • Describe how the development of a 911 system and related technology has impacted emergency dispatch.
    • Articulate how advancements in radio technology have impacted emergency dispatch.
    • Recognize how emergency medical dispatch has changed the EMS dispatch profession.

Discussions
