Woche 1: Overview and Objectives
Overview
Let's begin discovering German! This week introduces cognates, typing, pronunciation, and umlauts. Cognates are German words that you will recognize because they have (nearly) the same spelling as in English, even if they don't always have exactly the same meaning or pronunciation. You will also learn how to type German characters and how to pronounce of German words based on the sounds of different combinations of letters. Umlauts are special German characters that result in different pronunciations of vowel sounds.
Your only assignment this week will be to join a group. Group work will begin next week.
