Getting Started Launch the DesignPLUS Sidebar

The DesignPLUS sidebar is available when the rich content editor is open in the following Canvas tools: Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, Classic Quizzes, and Syllabus. If the sidebar is not visible in these tools, use the instructions below to temporarily or permanently enable it.

Instructions

Open the Sidebar

To open the sidebar, follow these steps:

  1. Open any Canvas course.
  2. Navigate to a page or content item you wish to edit.
  3. Click  Edit.
  4. While in edit mode, click the icon that looks like a rocket ship. This launches DesignPlus right inside Canvas.
  5. The sidebar will remain visible until you dismiss it by clicking the in the upper right corner or exit the page. 

Automatically Launch the Sidebar

To keep the sidebar enabled whenever you open the rich content editor:

  1. Open any page, assignment, quiz, announcement, or discussion topic and click Edit.
  2. If the sidebar is not visible, use one of the keyboard shortcuts described in the previous section to enable it.
  3. In the sidebar, click More Options (︙) and select User Settings.

  4. On the User Settings panel, check the following option:
    • Automatically Launch Sidebar–the full sidebar appears whenever you open the Canvas rich content editor.

Your sidebar settings will remain in effect until you change them or clear your browser cache.
