Banner Image
Banner images can add visual interest to your page and give your course a distinctive look. They are most commonly used on the course home page, but can also be used on module/unit introduction pages to communicate information about the topic of the module.

This section describes how to add a banner image from the DesignPLUS image library.  To add a custom banner image, see: Add a Custom Banner Image .

Instructions

Add a banner image

  1. Edit or create the page or content item where you want to add the banner image.
  2. Open the Add New Elements ( ) tab in the sidebar.
  3. From the Add New Element menu, select the Theme tool.

    The Edit Current Element ( )      tab opens with Theme selected as the active tool.
  4. In the Content panel, click Add ( ) next to Banner Image.

  5. The default DesignPLUS banner image will be added to the page, and the words "Banner Image" will become a hyperlink in the Content panel.
  6. Click the Banner Image link in the Content panel. The Image tool becomes the active tool.

  7. In the Content panel for the Image tool, open the Change Image panel.
  8. At the top of the Change Image panel, choose the image location using the button icons:

    • = User Images (stored in your personal files).
    • = Course Images (stored in course files).
    • = Institutional Images (choose this option unless you have uploaded banner images into your personal or course files folder).
  9. Under Files/Folders, select the location of the image. Choose Banner Images Page unless you have uploaded your own image.
  10. Examine the thumbnail previews of the available images and select one to insert into your page.
  11. Provide a description of the image in the Alt Text field or check the Decorative box for accessibility.

Replace a banner image

  1. Select the Edit Current Element ( )  tab in the sidebar.
  2. On the page, click the banner image to select it. Confirm that Image is the active tool. If not, select it.

  3. Use the options available in the Content and Style panels to make the desired changes.
