Page Design & Structure UF Snippets

Snippets are preconfigured blocks of HTML code that you can easily add to your pages quickly and consistently across courses/course content. Most of the UF-provided snippets are two-column versions of content and/or video options. There are also DesignPLUS snippets available that range from a block quote to more column options for you to choose from.

Institutional Snippets

UF snippets offered

COIP has created various institutional snippets to make adding content to your course easy. There are two-column snippets that allow you to add content and/or video. They are pre-configured with image placeholders that you can edit once you've placed the snippet on your page.

Instructions

Add a snippet to a page

  1. Place your cursor in the Canvas rich content editor (RCE) where you want the snippet to go.
  2. Click on the "Add New Element" tab in the sidebar's main navigation.
  3.  Search for "Snippet" in the search field and then click on the "Snippet" button.
  4. When you click on the "Snippet" button it will insert a Snippet placeholder in the editor at the cursor's position and load the Snippet tool in the sidebar.
  5. Hover over the snippet buttons to see a preview of that snippet.
  6. When you find a snippet you wish to use, simply click on the snippet's button to replace the snippet placeholder with the selected snippet's HTML.
  7. You can now use the Canvas RCE or the DesignPLUS sidebar to edit the snippet.

You can also use the same steps to add a DesignPLUS snippet to your page by clicking on the DesignPLUS Snippets category and selecting from the options shown there.
