ProctorU Faculty Instructions
Overview
ProctorU is a live online proctoring service that allows students to take exams in the comfort of their home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. UF Online courses use proctoring for assessments worth 15% or more of the final course grade.
Technical Requirements for Using ProctorU
In order to use ProctorU, you will need a laptop or desktop computer with a Windows or Apple operating system, a high-speed internet connection (minimum download .768 Mbps, minimum upload .384 Mbps), a webcam (internal or external), a functioning microphone, a compatible browser (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox), and a government-issued photo ID.

Create a ProctorU Account
You will need to create a ProctorU Account Links to an external site.. You can reset your account if you have already created an account but don’t remember your password Links to an external site..
Install the ProctorU Extension
You must download the ProctorU extension for your browser (Chrome Links to an external site. or Firefox Links to an external site.).
Check for Needed Items
Before you take an exam with ProctorU, you will need to have the following items:
- One form of government-issued photo ID (i.e. driver’s license, passport, military ID, etc.)
- Any materials authorized for use by your instructor (scratch paper, pencil, etc.)
- A working webcam and microphone
- A strong internet connection
- A private room

To schedule a proctoring session with ProctorU, click on ProctorU from the course navigation menu. You may be prompted to log in to your ProctorU account.
Click Schedule New Exam. Confirm your institution, select the term and exam name, and click Find Session. Next, select the date and time that works best for you and then click Schedule/Book It.

ProctorU recommends arriving 10-15 minutes before your proctoring session begins. When you're ready to start the exam, navigate to ProctorU in the course menu and select your exam. You'll need to accept the exam guidelines and share your screen. ProctorU will verify your hardware, and you'll be asked to photograph yourself and your ID card using your webcam. You may also need to confirm your identity by providing your name, address, and other details. Finally, you'll be prompted to download and run the “LogMeInRescue” applet. Once it loads, you will be connected to a proctor.
