Active Shooter Paper

Instructions

Review the video "Active Shooter Response" to help frame your response. Once you have read the Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department Operational Considerations and Guide for Active Shooter and Mass Casualty Incidents, create an SOP for an active shooter. If your agency already has an active shooter SOP, submit that document along with a revised SOP after reading the Active Shooter Manual.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions need to adhere to the following format guidelines:

  • Times New Roman font
  • APA format
  • Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx)

Please also note that the APA7 does not require an abstract for short papers (see p. 30 APA 7th manual), but you are free to include one if you wish.

Grading

This assignment is worth 100 points and aligns with the following objectives:

  • Critique actions to take when confronted with an active shooter and responding law enforcement officials.
  • Evaluate potential workplace violence indicators.
  • Express actions to take to prevent and prepare for potential active shooter incidents.
