BOT4621: Plant Geography, Spring 2016
This course examines patterns in the distribution of organisms around the Earth and addresses many of the factors that influence their spread. We will consider similarities of communities in different parts of the world as well as common distribution patterns among individual taxa. Methods for inferring biogeographic history and predicting future changes in the distribution of organisms will be discussed.

JOU4930: Advanced Web Apps, Spring 2016
This course for JOURNALISM students adds server-side (back-end) skills to the client-side (front-end) skills students have already developed in the previous course. This means you can save information generated from a Web page (you can require users to log in, for example), and you can run scripts on the server that will affect what the user sees, among other things. The Python language will be taught.

JOU4930: Social Media Skills, Spring 2016
Students in this course develop and produce social media outreach, engagement and analysis for WUFT.org. Once a week, the full class meets for lecture and discussion. Once a week, each student works a four-hour shift in the Innovation News Center, during which social media posts about Florida news are logged, analyzed, and republished (in some cases), and social media accounts for WUFT News are managed.
