ePortfolios have a variety of different uses. Each Canvas user has his or her own ePortfolio area, where you can have multiple ePortfolios ("Sections") organized like folders. Each folder has its own permission rules, so that you can keep some private and share others. This is a handy way to store information, links, or other items that you might use throughout different courses in your program.
In your courses, ePortfolios might be used as course blogs - a place for you to "journal" about the course. These journals may be private, shared with the class, or shared only with the instructor, depending on the course. It's good practice to create a new Section/ePortfolio for each course in which you need to use this tool, to maintain organization.
Example: FAS5901 requires blog/journaling assignments. I'll create an ePortfolio named FAS5901 and share it with my classmates by pasting a link in the Discussions for that course.
