SFFGS Undergraduate Certificate Programs
Academic undergraduate certificate programs available through the School of Forestry, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences
Academic certificate programs are prescribed sets of courses that work towards specific student learning outcomes. Most of our undergraduate certificate programs are on-campus programs intended for current UF bachelor's degree-seeking students. Specifics are noted below.
SFFGS Undergraduate Certificate Programs
- Environmental Policy, Law, and Regulation (EPLR) Download Environmental Policy, Law, and Regulation (EPLR) - on-campus; available to FRC majors who do not have the Environmental Pre-Law Specialization; available to NRC majors; available to other majors only by special permission
- Fire Ecology and Management (FEM) Download Fire Ecology and Management (FEM) - on-campus; available to FRC and NRC majors; available to other majors only by special permission
- NEW FOR SUMMER A/C 2025 Forest Health Management (FHM) Download Forest Health Management (FHM) - on-campus; available to current FRC majors only
- Geomatics (GMT)
Download Geomatics (GMT) - available 100% online as a standalone program
- If taken online, students will need access to a local survey mentor and equipment
- Mapping with Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAU) Download Mapping with Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAU) - on-campus; available as a standalone program if prereqs met
- Recreation Resources Management (RRM) Download Recreation Resources Management (RRM) - on-campus; available to FRC majors who do not have the Recreation Resources Management Specialization, available to NRC majors; available to other majors only by special permission
- Urban Forestry (URF) Download Urban Forestry (URF) - on-campus; available to FRC majors who do not have the Urban Forestry Specialization; available to all other majors
General information to keep in mind:
- All applicants must apply for admission and apply to complete
- Applicants who are also UF degree-seeking students must complete 6 credits of the certificate coursework after admission
- Students must earn a grade of "C or better" in each course to use it towards an undergraduate certificate
- Standalone certificate students who earn a second failing grade may need to meet with the faculty lead before continuing in their program
- Each certificate awarded to a student must have at least 9 credits that are distinct from every other certificate or minor for that student
- Students cannot earn a certificate and major of the same name
- For example, students with a major in Geomatics cannot earn a certificate in Geomatics
- Upon completion, students will receive a printed certificate from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and the certificate will be noted on their academic transcript
