Dear Introductory Physics Lab Students,

The University is requiring all courses to go to electronic delivery by Monday, March 16. In class physics laboratories will stop by the end of Friday, March 13.

The physics department is working diligently to provide a quality lab course, despite the difficulties of delivering lab experiments electronically. Through Canvas, we will inform you of additional details for finishing the course.

Canvas will only be used for grade reporting and for the prelab quizzes (prelabs). Instructors may use other Canvas tools at their discretion. To gain access to the prelab quizzes, you will need to complete the Preliminaries module. There are two quizzes in the Preliminaries module: Prelab Warmup and Make up Policy. To unlock the Prelabs module you will need to complete the Preliminaries module and get all the questions right on both quizzes.

The first prelabs will be for Experiment NC Electrostatics. These experiments run Tuesday, January 21 through Monday, January 27. In case there are beginning-of-the-semester problems and to allow time to unlock the Prelabs module, the prelab for Experiment NC will be available for one extra week, at which time the prelabs for both Experiment NC and the following week's experiment, Experiment NA Electric Fields and Equipotentials, will be due. While they will be available sooner, no prelabs will be due until the week starting Tuesday, January 28. For the remainder of the semester, the prelab quizzes will be due by 7:00 AM of the day of your laboratory.

In Canvas, the prelabs can be found in the Modules area and are labeled by the two letter code for the experiment. Grades are available in the Gradebook area. If you forget what the next experiment will be, you can check the Syllabus area.

Make sure you are properly registered in your physics lab course and section. Enrollment in Canvas sections is automatic and based on registration information.
