A Course Orientation Quiz is a good way to provide students with a way to check their understanding of the syllabus/orientation before they jump into course materials.
Many instructors create a 5 - 10 question quiz that asks students to demonstrate that they read and understood the syllabus, know how to set up any software or tools needed for the course, can access the textbook, and meet other course requirements.
This quiz won’t count towards the student’s grade but is sometimes required in order to start learning the course content.
