Quizzes and Exams
Overview
Quizzes and exams are a predictable part of most college courses, and offer you the chance to flex your mastery! Whether it’s a short quiz to check your understanding or an end-of-course exam, the best way to prepare for a quiz is to plan ahead. Keep in mind the due dates for all assignments, quizzes, and exams for the entire semester will be scheduled ahead of time and on your syllabus that first day of class. To ensure academic integrity in UF Online courses, instructors will use a proctoring system for any quizzes or exams worth a significant portion of your overall grade.
Exams Are “Quizzes” Too
Within Canvas, the Quizzes tool is where you can find upcoming and completed quizzes and exams. Before you start a quiz, you’ll see instructions, time limits, availability and due dates, possible points, and a button to start the timer. Some courses will allow you to have multiple attempts on quizzes to practice and check your knowledge, they can be open or closed book, graded or ungraded, and include a variety of question types from multiple choice to essays to math equations and proofs.
Proctoring
Proctoring for academic integrity is typically accomplished using Honorlock or sometimes ProctorU. In order to take a proctored quiz or exam, you’ll need to install some simple browser extensions and have a webcam handy.
