Infinitives; Indirect Statement
Latin has six infinitives (present, perfect, and future active and passive). These are used to express indirect statement. The subject of a finite verb (a verb with a personal ending) is in the nominative case. The subject of the infinitive (a verb without a personal ending) is in the accusative case.
Objectives
After completing this module, students will be able to:
- Translate expressions of reported speech.
- Translate the infinitive (non-finite verb) in indirect speech in accordance with the introductory (finite verb) of the sentence.
