Gruppenarbeit Woche 2
- Due No Due Date
- Points 20
- Submitting a file upload
Arrange a time and meet with all your group members in Zoom and record this group work. Ordinarily, group work should take no longer that ca. 30-40 minutes if everyone is prepared, but you may need more than this for this first meeting.
Choose one group member to create and host the Zoom conference, and the rest of the group will join the conference.
Instructions for creating/hosting, joining, and recording your Zoom conference are below.
Objective
Practice using Avatar-Image with background. Review Grammar topics covered in GER 1125. Continue to concentrate on correct German pronunciation.
Overview
The Group Activity for Week 2 includes:
1) Introductions.
2) Grammar Writing Tasks involving your practice with the introductory materials of the first two weeks of the course and using the German Grammar Cruncher Online Language Learning Application to copy and paste selected for submission using this Gruppenarbeit Woche 2 Worksheet (Links to an external site.)

1. Introductions
Spend a few minutes introducing yourself to, and finding out about your fellow group members.
Then, using zoom screen-sharing (which you will be doing a lot this semester-- the host may have to make all group members co-hosts of the meeting to do this--good chance to practice this if you don't know how), take turns sharing with your group members the PowerPoint slide you have made with your Avatar-Image against a background of your choice: introduce your Avatar-Image and explain why it appears against the background you have chosen. You can change your Avatar-image and its name from the one you used in the fall if you would like.
Make sure also that you introduce yourself and post the PowerPoint slide with your Avatar-Image and its background (click here to review these instructions) to the whole class via this Discussion Board by the deadline at the end of the second week.
2. Grammar Writing Task involving review of GER 1125 Discover German I:
After starting your Zoom conference, one group member will make a copy of the Gruppenarbeit Review of GER 1125 Woche 3 Works(Links to an external site.)heet and share it with the rest of the group (to do so, one group member will click Share at the top right of the document, then type in their group members names and click Done). The group will then complete the worksheet together during the meeting.
Go back to the GER 1125-Review-topics as necessary as you do this group work, but try to be as prepared as possible in advance:
- Review: der-ein Wörter
- Review: Verbs
- Review: Auxiliaries
- Review: Verb Prefixes
- Review: Perfect
- Review: Pronouns
- Review: Prepositional Complements
- Review: Word Order
- Review: Imperatives and Questions
- Review: Prepositions
- Additional Review Videos on Youtube
Work through the grammar writing tasks, with individual members taking turns writing their sentences directly into the Worksheet or copying and pasting them from the Grammar Cruncher. Group members should try to help each other produce interesting and correct examples of the grammatical structures you are practicing. You will be graded both for the preparation and ability you demonstrate in writing your own sentences, and you will also be graded for the degree you are engaged and helpful to the other members in your group when they are doing their individual work. When you are finished, designate a group member to save the Google Doc Worksheet with all your individual work in it and upload it into this assignment before the deadline (it will be most practical and straightforward if the meeting host does this).
Important: For full credit, you must a) use the vocabulary that you will find in the Grammar Cruncher to write your sentences, and b) share your screens during at least part of your Zoom recording in such a way that your instructor can see that you are using the chapter vocabulary in the Grammar Cruncher as well as using the Grammar Cruncher to check grammatical forms you may not be sure about.
