Module 4: Overview con't
Fires occur each day. Fortunately, few make it to the magnitude of being considered a disaster. It will not cover all aspects of firefighting, the chapter will focus on fire events that result in disasters. The chapter will examine urban conflagrations, wild land and urban interface fires, high rise fire, nursing home and hospital fires. The chapter will then conclude with planning for catastrophic fires.
Objectives
After this module, the student will be able to:
- Define what urban conflagration fires are
- Explain what conditions contribute to firestorms
- Recall wildland fire behaviors
- Explain high-rise SOP and ICS components
- Describe the 10 factors that have contributed to deaths or injuries in fire disaster
