Instructions
Create a job description for a technical rescue safety officer. This can either be for one who is assigned to an incident or a person who is designated for this position on a regular basis. Be sure to include all the components of that position.
Provide critical feedback and reply to at least two other students' job descriptions and identify areas missed or you think need to be changed and why. Discussions are meant to be discussions with back-and-forth dialogue. See the syllabus for a reminder of expectations for participation in all course discussions.
Guidelines and Grading
This discussion is worth 20 points and measures the following objectives:
- Identify the safety officer’s place in the incident command system.
- Identify the major duties of the safety officer.
- Define hazard and risk as they relate to the safety officer’s role on the emergency scene.
- Discuss the concept of risk management and its place in the safety officer’s decision-making process.
Discussions will be graded using the following criteria:
- Initial original post submission
- Initial original post content
- Response to peers
- Citation formatting
- Spelling and grammar
