The Remaining Chapters
As we conclude this course, the remaining chapters include water rescue. The majority of response areas have some water in their area, and with the threat of flash floods, it becomes even more ominous. We will finish the last special response with land search and rescue. Everyone can have this occur, from the most urban areas to the most rural areas. Whether it is a small child, dementia patient, or someone in between, we have the possibility of this occurring. Chapter 14 discusses national incidents and is a good review that helps to gain a perspective. The final chapter will be played out as your final project and discussed in module 8. So, read each chapter, review the videos in this module, and then put them all together in the next module.

- Describe the various methods for transporting a subject from a wilderness environment.
- Idenitfy the variables involved in developing an EMS-related special operations team.
- Discuss the different types of EMS-related special operations teams and their primary missions.
- Identify resources to assist in creating a needs assessment for an EMS-related special operations team.
- Advocate for the creation of an EMS-related special operations team.
- Explain the variables involved in selecting personnel for an EMS-related special operations team.
- Evaluate training standards and execute initial and annual compulsory training for the EMS-related special operations team.
- Find funding streams to assist in implementing the EMS-related special operations team.
- Discuss the aspects of human resources-related practice with respect to the EMS-related special operations team.
